Our Story

Living in the countryside, we have been blessed with ample land, allowing us to create a small farmstead where we can indulge in various hobbies. For instance, we raise meat birds every Spring for our family and some neighboring families as well. It may be a messy and odorous task, but it's worthwhile since it provides us with non-GMO, organic, free-range chicken throughout the year. Additionally, we embark on the adventure of cultivating a rather large garden. We can grow nearly anything we choose (no kidding, almost anything!), but we typically focus on tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, beans, pumpkins, zucchini, strawberries, raspberries, apples, among others. Up here in the north, we've even succeeded in growing peanuts! During the colder winter months, we dedicate time to preparing and producing Maple Syrup. This nostalgic experience takes us back to our younger days when we would stay up late until midnight, 1 AM, or even 2 AM; though usually, it wasn't out in the cold.

Our farm is also home to a variety of animals, and Melissa’s absolute favorites are her goats. We have Myotonic (meat) and Oberhasli (dairy) goats as pets, and we also possess a couple of Alpine goats (dairy) which we plan to breed soon. In addition, there are many laying hens and a largely overlooked bunny. Plus, we have two cats that keep the mouse and mole population at bay, not to mention a couple of parakeets, a leopard gecko, and discussions about bringing in cows.

Another enjoyable activity on the farm is crafting. Anything ranging from card making and painting to constructing goodie (display) stands and creating soaps and candles, crafting is simply irresistible. Visiting a craft store, thrift shop, or even Goodwill can be quite perilous since "oops" or unnecessary items often end up on the craft balcony (yes, a balcony). Sometimes we buy things just because we know we can use them, and other times it’s because there’s an actual plan in place. Regardless, we craft… or at least we try.
